ADEQ Plans Water Quality Testing Event for Verde Valley Students as part of National Children's Health Month
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality officials announced today that the agency will partner with Dead Horse Ranch State Park to sponsor a water quality testing event in the Verde River for 80 charter school students from Cottonwood and Camp Verde at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27 as part of ADEQ’s statewide activities conducted during national Children’s Health Month.

ADEQ Issues Order to IBWC for Cadmium Water Quality Violations and Failure to Properly Manage Sewage Sludge
A compliance order has been issued to the U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission for discharging wastewater containing elevated levels of the toxic metal cadmium into the Santa Cruz River and more than twice the legal limit in biosolids -- the sewage sludge residue from the wastewater treatment process -- spread onto nearby fields north of Nogales and for failure to test and manage biosolids from the Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant (NIWTP).

Conn-Selmer of Nogales to Pay $150,000 Penalty to Resolve Hazardous Waste Violations in Santa Cruz County
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and Arizona Attorney General's Office announced today that Conn-Selmer Inc. has agreed to pay a $150,000 penalty under a consent judgment for hazardous waste violations at its Santa Cruz County groundwater remediation system, located in Nogales.

Southwest Rock Products and Subsidiaries to Pay $93,526 for Air Quality Violations in Five Arizona Counties from 2006 until 2009
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and Arizona Attorney General's Office announced today that Southwest Rock Products (SWRP) of Gilbert and its subsidiaries will pay $93,526 in a settlement with ADEQ for air quality violations in Apache, Cochise, Maricopa, Mohave and Navajo counties from 2006 until 2009.
