ADEQ Issues an Ozone High Pollution Advisory (HPA) for Thursday, May 26
Ozone concentrations in the Valley reached their highest levels of the season on Tuesday and elevated levels are expected to remain because of a continued warming trend under cloudless skies. On Thursday, air quality forecasters expect several Valley areas to possibly exceed the federal health standard for ozone.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is issuing a general smoke advisory for Santa Cruz, Cochise and Pima counties because of northward smoke movement from a Mexican wildfire about 10 miles southeast of Nogales, Sonora.

Warm temperatures and light winds forecast for Thursday are expected to create a significant increase in ground level ozone. Air quality forecasters say concentrations of the pollutant may approach the health standard in some areas of the Valley on Wednesday. On Thursday, they expect several areas to possibly exceed the federal health standard.
