ADEQ Files Appeal Regarding EPA's First Action on State of Arizona's 2011 Regional Haze Implementation Plan
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality officials announced today that the Attorney General’s Office has filed an appeal at the request of ADEQ with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals regarding the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s decision to disapprove portions of the state’s implementation plan for improving visibility in protected national parks and wilderness areas, and mandating costly air pollution controls for nitrogen oxide emissions from three coal-fired Arizona power plants.

ADEQ Announces Free Electronics Waste Recycling Event in Parking Lot of Hayden Town Hall on Saturday, Feb. 9
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality officials announced today that a free electronics waste recycling event will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 in the parking lot of the town hall in Hayden, 520 N. Velasco Ave., from 8 a.m. until noon for residents of Hayden and nearby communities.

Silver Bell Mining, LLC Agrees to $110,000 Settlement for Water Quality Violations from Spill near Marana
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality officials announced today that Silver Bell Mining, LLC has agreed to pay a $60,000 penalty and perform preventive actions valued at $50,000 as part of a consent judgment to resolve water quality violations caused by a June 2010 spill from a pipeline at its Silver Bell Copper Mine near Marana in Pima County.

Compliance Order Issued to Tacna Water Management Co. of Yuma for Exceeding Arsenic Levels, Reporting Violations
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality officials announced today that a compliance order has been issued to Tacna Water Management Co. of Yuma for exceeding maximum contaminant levels of arsenic in its drinking water and a number of reporting violations. Tacna Water Company serves a population of 240 persons in the community of Tacna, located 40 miles east of Yuma.
