ADEQ Director Owens Announces Waste Cleanup from Illegal Border Crossings in Douglas Area of Cochise County
PHOENIX: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Director Steve Owens announced today that ADEQ has organized a cleanup on Thursday, Jan. 8 northeast of Douglas near U.S. Highway 80 to remove waste discarded by undocumented migrants on trails across ranch land in the area.

Particulate Air Pollution Boosts Risk of Asthma Attacks in Children, ADEQ Study Shows
PHOENIX: A study released today by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) shows that asthma attacks and other asthma symptoms in children aged 5-18 increased by nearly 14 percent on days with elevated levels of particulate matter pollution, called PM10, during 2005-2006.

ADEQ Issues Second High Pollution Advisory of Season for Particulate Matter for Tuesday, Dec. 30
PHOENIX: The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a High Pollution Advisory (HPA) for Tuesday, Dec. 30 for the Phoenix metropolitan area because of forecast weather conditions that are expected to be conducive for unhealthy levels of fine Particulate Matter 2.5 microns and smaller (PM2.5), primarily smoke and soot generated by burning wood in indoor and outdoor fireplaces and emissions from motor vehicles.
