ADEQ Director Owens Invites Navajo Nation to Join with Arizona and Other Western States to Address Climate Change
WINDOW ROCK: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Director Steve Owens invited leaders of the Navajo Nation to join with Arizona and other Western states to address climate change by joining the Western Climate Initiative (WCI), a collaborative effort by seven Western states and two Canadian provinces to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the West.

ADEQ Consent Order with Phelps Dodge Addresses Copper Queen Sulfate Contamination in Bisbee and Naco ommunity Group to Meet Jan. 29 to Discuss Mitigation Efforts
PHOENIX: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Director Steve Owens said today that Phelps Dodge Copper Queen mine is taking steps under a Consent Order the company signed with ADEQ in November to address sulfate contamination in drinking water from the mine, on West Highway 92 in Bisbee, Cochise County.

ADEQ to Conduct Cleanups of Migrant Trash from Border Crossings in Santa Cruz County
PHOENIX: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Director Steve Owens announced today that ADEQ will participate in three cleanups on Saturday, Jan. 26 in Santa Cruz County to remove waste discarded during border crossings by undocumented migrants along trails in Santa Cruz County in the riparian area of the Santa Cruz River.

Tough Permit for Bella Terra Wastewater Treatment Plant Near Sedona Upheld
PHOENIX: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Director Steve Owens announced today that the Arizona Water Quality Appeals Board has rejected a challenge to the department's issuance of an Aquifer Protection Permit (APP) for the Bella Terra Reclamation Wastewater Facility near Sedona. The Appeals Board affirmed a decision by an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) upholding the ADEQ permit.
