Metco Metal Finishing Inc. to Pay $75,000 Penalty, Conduct Environmental Cleanup to Resolve Hazardous Waste Violations
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality and Arizona Attorney General's Office announced today that Metco Metal Finishing Inc. will pay a $75,000 penalty as part of a consent judgment entered in Maricopa County Superior Court for hazardous waste violations at the South Phoenix plating facility.

ADEQ Issues an Ozone High Pollution Advisory (HPA) for Tuesday, June 21
Ozone levels are expected to increase Tuesday after elevated ozone levels resulted in a Health Watch on Monday. Factors expected to create even more ozone on Tuesday are little or no cloud cover, high temperatures of 110 degrees or more, light winds and near peak season sun angle and day length.

ADEQ Issues an Ozone High Pollution Advisory (HPA) for Wednesday, June 15
Ozone levels are expected to increase Wednesday because of a forecast high of 107 degrees, clear skies, light winds, already elevated ozone readings and movement patterns which are expected to transport additional ozone to the Valley from the west between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 5 a.m. Wednesday.

ADEQ Issues an Ozone High Pollution Advisory (HPA) for Thursday, June 9
Ozone levels increased rapidly Tuesday because of the lack of wind. The same conditions are expected to be in place Thursday along with little, if any, cloud cover and temperatures near 100 degrees. Even higher levels of ozone are possible on Friday. On both Thursday and Friday, concentrations of the pollutant are expected to possibly exceed the federal health standard.

ADEQ Announces Free Electronics Waste Recycling Event will be held June 18 Across from Safeway Plaza in Benson
Arizona Department of Environmental Quality officials announced today that a free electronics waste recycling event for residents of Benson and the surrounding area will be held on Saturday, June 18 from 8 a.m. until noon in the 500 block of West Fourth Street in downtown Benson, across the street from Safeway.
