Plan to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Pollution Presented to Governor
PHOENIX: Gov. Janet Napolitano today received the recommendations for the design of a regional market-based cap and trade program for the Western Climate Initiative (WCI). The WCI is a collaboration among seven Western U.S. States, including Arizona, and four Canadian provinces to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the western United States and Canada. The WCI recommendations were developed after an extensive stakeholder process.

ADEQ Director Owens Extends Sympathy to the Family and Colleagues of IBWC Commissioner Carlos Marin
PHOENIX: On Monday a plane carrying U.S. International Boundary and Water Commission Chairman Carlos Marin, his Mexican counterpart Arturo Herrera, Rio Grande Council of Governments Executive Director Jake Brisbin, Jr. and pilot Matt Juneau was reported missing. Yesterday crash remains were found near the U.S.-Mexico border. There were no survivors.

ADEQ Seeks Applications for Grants to Improve Conditions of Watersheds in Rural Arizona
PHOENIX: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Director Steve Owens announced today that ADEQ is accepting applications to allocate $800,000 to develop Watershed Improvement Plans (WIPs) for three targeted watersheds in the state of Arizona. PHOENIX: Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Director Steve Owens and Attorney General Terry Goddard announced today that they have filed a lawsuit against Far West Water & Sewer Company, Inc. (Far West) and H & S Developers, Inc. (H & S) seeking penalties of up to $25,000 per day for numerous, long-standing and repeated water and air quality violations in Yuma County.
