Create an area map showing:
• Traffic flow and route
• Placement of trucks and roll offs/pallets
• Fork lift route
• Certified operator needed
• Use the forklift instead of manual lifting when possible.
• Identify area(s) for storage before, during and after event (including special pickups).
Make signs and banners to help keep public informed and organized.
• Identify placement and location of the signs
• Include information such as “All material is recycled in accordance with state and federal regulations, and all hard drives received will be erased with state-of-the-art
software.”
Document participant data such as: count vehicles for statistical purposes; track volume of materials collected; how did you hear about the event?; etc.
Prepare handouts.
• Fact sheets, business/Web cards, brochures and any other materials necessary
E-waste recycler will provide certificates of disposal upon request for tax purposes.
Confirm timeframe for pickup of materials by e-waste recycler.
Determine if security for overnight storage is required – Who covers the cost? Confirm that they arrive. Follow up with security afterward about any incidents which may have occurred.
Identify or procure restroom and service facilities (i.e. Port-a- potties, fast food restaurant, convenience store).
